After a nearly two-year waiting period, the first sale of recreational marijuana will happen on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018.
The two dispensaries that will conduct the first legal sale of adult-use recreational marijuana in Massachusetts are New England Treatment Access (NETA) in Northampton and Cultivate Holdings in Leicester.
NETA has been a medical marijuana facility in Northampton since 2015 and earned a final license for retail sales, along with Cultivate.
A third dispensary, Pharmacannis Massachusetts in Wareham, has also earned a final license but is not yet open for recreational sale.
MassLive was able to take a look at 10 NETA products that will be available for recreational consumers starting Tuesday. These 10 products are just a small sample of the more than 200 products NETA has available for purchase.
Under Massachusetts state law, people 21 and over can purchase 1 ounce of flower, 5 grams of concentrate or a combination of both per transaction.
NETA puts purchase limits on its recreational products using a point system out of 100. Each product has a set number points attached to it, so customers can easily track how much they are able to purchase at once, without exceeding 100 points.
Note: NETA accepts cash, debit and credit cards.
All of the marijuana products at NETA are produced at a growth facility in Franklin, Mass.
One of the many products that can be purchased for recreational consumers are pre-rolls. Each pre-roll is packed with premium marijuana flower in natural rice or hemp paper, then hand twisted.
This multi-pack has five different pre-rolls containing 1 gram each. It is also available in a 10-count mini size.
For customers who want to stick to just one joint, singular pre-rolls are available. NETA says these products are “rolled perfectly with potent and flavorful strains to meet your needs and improve your mood.”
